This summer, my family and my sister’s family traveled to Las Vegas for a family vacation. We are not gamblers, but we knew that we could find fun family activities in Las Vegas as well. We decided to stay at the Tahiti Village. This resort is located about 5 miles from the strip, however, they provide a convenient shuttle bus to get you back and forth to the strip if you wish. Since we were traveling with children, we did not really want to stay downtown or on the strip, but instead opted for a great family oriented resort that our kids loved!
Tahiti Village is a four star resort that features a spa, a large pool and a lazy river. Also located on property is a Tahitian-style restaurant – Tahiti Joe’s. Every suite includes a full kitchen or kitchenette. Plus there is a sitting and dining area. Some suites include a spa bathtub, washing machine, and a balcony or patio. Kids activities are available daily and features bracelet making, sand castle contests, bingo, lei making and more.
What we loved about Tahiti Village
- Kitchen – this saved us quite a bit of money as we were able to cook our own food most of the time.
- Washing Machine/Dryer – while there were a little small, it was great to be able to do a few loads of laundry!
- Pool – The pool is quite large and never seemed to be too crowded. We played volleyball, made sand castles in the sand area that is attach to one section of the pool and were even able to place our chairs in one section of the pool to keep cool!>
- Lazy River – This was quite a hit! The lazy river is not particular large, but they provide tubes and it was so relaxing to float around the river. A few water features help keep you cool!
- Shuttle Bus – We used the shuttle bus a number of times to travel to and from the strip. The drivers are knowledgeable and friendly.
- Housekeeping – They were more than willing to change sheets, bring fresh towels and help in any way that they could.
What we didn’t like about Tahiti Village
- No Transportation from the Airport – While Tahiti village provides shuttle service to and from the strip, they do not provide any transportation to and from the airport.
- Shuttle Bus was Full – A few times, when traveling back from the strip, the shuttle bus was full. We had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the next service. If you catch the service at New York, New York, instead of The Mirage you will be more likely to get a seat.
- Outside Food/Beverage Not Allowed at Pool – You have to purchase their food and beverages (the prices were fairly reasonable for resort food). We did splurge and shared a non-alcoholic Pina Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Overall, I highly recommend Tahiti Village for a family vacation. This resort can also be exchanged through RCI.
