I often think that saving every receipt is a waste of time and space, however, there have been times when I needed a specific receipt and didn’t have it. Here are a few reasons you may need receipts:
- Dispute on a credit card charge. Were you charged too much or more than once?
- Airline Mileage credit. Save boarding passes and tickets to make sure that your reward mileage is credited correctly.
- Online purchases. Did you purchase amusement park, museum or zoo tickets online? Be sure to print out the receipts in case there is a dispute at the box office.
- Returning Items. Did you buy a trinket or gift you no longer need? Now you can return it easily.
- Budgeting. Keep receipts to enter into your vacation budget each day.
To keep my receipts organized I use a folder pocket that fits into a three ring binder. I look for the ones with the velcro closures. My favorite is the Binder Pocket for 3 Ring Binder that can be purchased from Amazon.com.

This is a great idea. Our vacation receipts tend to end up all over the place – the car, suitcase, pockets, and my purse. A binder would definitely keep us more organized!
