No one wants to spend full price. So why not save money on your vacation as well? Before you leave on vacation is the perfect time to look for coupons and discounts that will help you save money. I keep a separate section in my Vacation Binder just for coupons that I have printed or addresses to local places that offer coupons.
Places to Find Discounts
- Deal Sites. I use a number of deal sites for my local area, but did you know that you can also subscribe to other cities? I have subscribed to three different cities that I will be visiting in the future. I have already bought a discount for $40 of food for $20 at a burger joint. I check the deal sites daily and have even added their apps to my phone. These deals can be purchased from your phone even when you are on the road. Here are my favorite sites:
Groupon
Saveology
Living Social
City Deals - Entertainment Book. Another option is to purchase an Entertainment Book for the area you are visiting. This book offers tons of discounts for local area restaurants, attractions and stores. Check the Entertainment website for examples of discounts. The price of the book usually pays for itself after the first couple of coupons are used.
- CityPASS. CityPASS is available for some of the larger cities in the United States. CityPASS usually offers discounts to the top attractions for a particular location. For example, you can purchase a Disneyland 3-Day Hopper Pass, Seaworld one day admission and a Universal Studios one day admission for less than it would cost you to buy each pass separately. The passes are good for a 14 day period so it gives you plenty of time to visit all three attractions.
- City Websites. Visit the website of the city that you are going to visit. You will find information about festivals and local events that are sometimes free. Cities often have tourism websites as well. Search for the name of your city and with the word tourism to find local websites.
- Google. Google can be your best friend. Simply type in the location and then coupons or discounts and see if you can find any deals. For example, I typed in “Disneyland ticket discounts” and found a site that has discounted park hopper tickets. Always make sure you are buying for a reputable site. Search the company name with the word “scam” and see if find anything.
